We had the incredible opportunity to document the premiere of "The Last Front," a film that's about to shake up how we see World War I dramas. And let me tell you, it was quite a night.
We kicked things off with a portrait session with director Julien Hayet-Kerknawi and actor James Downie. It's always a bit nerve-wracking, trying to capture the personalities behind such a powerful film in just a few shots. But these guys made it easy - their passion for the project was palpable.

Then it was off to the IFC Center for the main event. Red carpets photography are always a bit chaotic, but this one felt special. Maybe it was the mix of Hollywood glam and serious filmmaking, or maybe it was just the buzz in the air. We snapped away as Virgine Hayet, Denise Reed, Lauren Biazzo, Lucian Wintrich, and Rahmeel Peebles (among others) made their way into the theater.
You know, it's funny. When you're behind the camera at these events, you're part of the action but also removed from it. You're trying to capture all these big moments and small interactions, all while staying out of the way. It's a balancing act, for sure.

This premiere wasn't just about the glitz, though. "The Last Front" looks at the human side of war, focusing on resilience and personal struggles. We wanted our photos to reflect that depth, even in the midst of all the premiere excitement.
It was also cool to be part of Enigma Releasing's first big night. They're the new kids on the block (just like us her at Raised Media Co.,) aiming to bring more European indie films to the U.S. Being there for their debut felt like watching a bit of film history in the making.
As we packed up our gear at the end of the night, we couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. Sure, we were exhausted (those flashes are heavy!), but we knew we'd captured something special.
"The Last Front" hits theaters on August 9, 2024. If you get a chance to see it, let us know what you think. And hey, if you ever need a team to document your big night (movie premiere or not), give us a shout. We promise to bring the same energy, minus the red carpet.
